The X18 series of dual-band telemetry radios from Tandem have undergone improvements to their ergonomic design, with comfortable hand grips and a more stable standing case. The radio is also equipped with easy-to-use sliders and switches, and six stick trims for greater flexibility in flight attitude adjustments. Additionally, the X18 series has integrated flash storage for improved storage operations, and has been designed to prioritize space and weight while maintaining all ETHOS setting and control features for the pilot.
The TD dual-band RF system merges the benefits of FrSky 900MHz and 2.4GHz RF into one system, allowing for real simultaneous dual-band long-range control with telemetry and a reliable 4ms latency. This system supports the entire range of TD, ACCESS & ACCST D16 receivers, and the built-in TANDEM RF System supports ACCESS and ACCST D16 protocols. Furthermore, the Tandem X18 series also features a rear Lite version module bay to provide more options for connecting external devices, and is compatible with 3rd party products that have undergone FrSky's verified compatibility-testing program.

The Tandem X18 series dual-band telemetry radios have a variety of hardware features. The case has an enhanced ergonomic design with comfortable rounded hand grips and a flat base for stability when standing. There are 4 standard trims and an additional 2 trims for flight attitude adjustments, and easy-to-reach top switches and sliders. The radio also has color touch-screen displays, 6 quick-mode custom buttons on the front, and 2 momentary buttons on the rear. Additionally, there is a Lite type external module bay, a built-in 6-axis gyroscope sensor, haptic vibration alerts, and voice speech outputs. The radio supports recharge system for 2S Li-ion battery (USB Type-C Interface), has a high-speed PARA wireless training system, and MC18 all CNC high-precision hall-sensor gimbals with 10 ball-bearings that have adjustable 45°/60° stick travel (Additional Travel Limiter Tool is required). The TD-ISRM RF module is built-in and supports multiple working modes, including long-range control with telemetry and super-low latency. The ETHOS system features a clear and intuitive UI design, supports dual operation modes of radio display (touch and non-touch), multi-language switching, and running LUA scripts.

It operates on ETHOS operating system, has up to 24 channels, and built-in 512MB flash drive storage. The operating current is 240mA@7.4V (typ.), and charging current is ≤1A ±200mA. The USB adaptor voltage is 5V+0.2V, and USB adaptor current is >2.0A. The radio also has built-in flash storage of 512MB (4Gbit) and a backlit touchable LCD resolution of 480*320.
